International Scientific Conference “ Bayram Han and Mogol Empire ” will be jointly held in Ashgabat, on June 17-19,2009 by the National Cultural Centre of Turkmenistan “Miras” and Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The meeting of the Council of CIS Foreign Ministers was held in the Turkmen capital. President of Turkmenistan attended the opening ceremony.
The day before the heads of the foreign ministers of the states – members of the Commonwealth of Independent States including the foreign ministers of the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Russian Federation, the Republic of Tajikistan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Republic of Moldova, the Republic of Uzbekistan and Ukraine represented by the deputy foreign ministers had arrived in Ashgabat to take part in the meeting. The delegation of the CIS Executive Committee was led by Sergey Lebedev, Chairman of the Executive Committee, Executive Secretary of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

on principles of equality and respect to interests During the government sitting on March 27 President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov gave instructions to announce the international tender for design and construction of the East-West gas pipeline in the territory of Turkmenistan. This decision was of great media interest across the world highlighting the clearly defined objectives of the project, namely to diversify supply of Turkmen natural gas and build of the reliable and stable system to transit Turkmen energy to international markets.

ENSURING SECURITY OF ENERGY CARRIES TRANSIT Last year on December 19, the United Nations General Assembly endorsed the resolution titled “Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy and its Role in Ensuring Sustainable Development and International Cooperation” initiated by Turkmenistan. The document was adopted by consensus, without voting, considered as the most desired result in the UN practice, which testifies to the full, with no reservations, support of the text by all members of the Organization.

International conference on stable transit of energy scheduled for 23-24 April in Ashgabat A high-level international conference titled "Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy and Role of Energy in Sustainable Development and International Cooperation" will be held in Ashgabat under the UN auspices on 23-24 April. The conference will discuss issues related to ensuring reliable and stable transit of energy to international markets and preparation of international normative documents to this effect. |

United Nations Supports Turkmenistan's Initiative on Pipeline Security December 22, 2008 (TDH) -- The UN General Assembly session on Friday (December 19) adopted the Resolution on the Reliable and Stable Transit of Energy and Its Role in Ensuring the Sustainable Development and International Cooperation. It is reported that the decision was taken with a consensus of 192 states. The draft resolution was proposed initially by Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about a year ago. |
